nsq — NeuroSquad in your terminal
nsq runs several AI coding agents in your terminal and calls you when one of them needs you — with the question it is asking. It is the open-source sibling of the NeuroSquad desktop app, made for the terminal: your laptop, a server over SSH, a dev container.
0.1.0 preview. This is the first public release. Commands and settings may still change between versions; tell us what breaks.
- Agents keep running. A background daemon owns the terminals: close the dashboard or the
terminal window and the agents carry on.
nsqopens the dashboard again. - A live dashboard. Workspaces and agents in a sidebar, a grid of live terminals next to it; open any agent full screen and go back.
- Exact status. Working, needs you (with the question) and finished come from each CLI’s own hooks — not from guessing at the screen.
- Answer without switching. Approve a permission prompt with y / a / n, send the next prompt, interrupt.
- Notifications and sound on your desktop, or in the terminal when there is no desktop.
- A git worktree per agent, cost per agent, resume after a restart.
- Claude Code, Codex CLI, OpenCode (1.x and 2.x) and any command.
- OpenRouter built in, local voice dictation, and an experimental phone view.
- Windows, macOS and Linux. No account, no telemetry. MIT licensed: github.com/glmn-ai/neurosquad-cli .
npm install -g neurosquad

nsqOne npm command, then five commands to a running squad.

Which CLIs, and how nsq knows what they are doing.
Everything you can do from a script or another terminal.
nsq or the desktop app?
Both start the agent CLIs you already use, with your own logins, and never write your own CLI settings. They differ in where you work.

Pick nsq when you live in the terminal, work on a remote machine or Linux, or want something you can read and change. Pick the desktop app when you want the canvas: cards next to your agents, arrows that give agents tools and each other, recordings, templates. See Getting started for the desktop app.
Privacy
nsq needs no account and sends no telemetry. Everything it keeps is in ~/.neurosquad-cli on your
machine; the OpenRouter key and the optional account sign-in live in your OS keyring. nsq itself goes
online only for what you use: the OpenRouter model list, the one-time dictation model download,
nsq login. The agents, of course, talk to their own model providers as they always do.
